Fuel Economy Tune Up (Dixie Tune Up) began in Rockingham, North Carolina in 1990. In the beginning, we were a 5-bay shop that specialized in all types of automotive repair. Soon after, in 1991, we began to expand our operations by moving into the performance aspect of automotive repair.
We became involved in fuel injection and other computer-related performance modifications. This research led to the development of the Dixie Cap, which we began selling locally in 1991. That same year, we started working with M&E Engines and Panther Racing of NASCAR. Directly involved with Sy Earnhardt, Chief of Operations, we began research and development with Winston Cup engine blocks and cylinder heads.
In 1993 Dixie Tune Up relocated to Auburndale, Florida, and continued to work on automobile performance. Another turning point took place in 1999, when Dixie Tune Up opened our internet store! Four years later, we have sold Dixie Caps to hundreds of satisfied customers, proving that we offer a quality product. As long as people drive automobiles, as long as drivers care how their cars perform, there will be Dixie Caps!
